CSIR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

 

  The programme comprises of following modules and contents :

 

1.         Modules

      ·        Module 1: Orientation : To be completed by participants in their work situation

·        Module 2: Residential Workshop at HRDC (G) : (12 Days of continuous training) 

·        Module 3: Action Learning Phase to be completed by the participants in their work situation

·        Module 4: Delivery and Competence Assessment Phase. 

2.         Module  Contents

          Module 1: Orientation:  Individual and Team  Assignments:  The team’s will be formed on an inter - Institute basis to develop teamwork skills across boundaries in a virtual network;

       Module 2: Residential Workshop:

 ·      CSIR’s mandate and leadership role in the Indian and international science and   technology community;

·        Performance benchmarks in research and development;

·        The nature and role of leadership in CSIR;

·       Leadership competences and proficiency standards for CSIR:

(1) Strategic, conceptual, systems and analytical thinking skills;

(2) Problem-Solving and decision-making skills;

(3) Interpersonal skills - including communication and influencing;

(4) Performance Contracting and change management skills;

(5) Teamwork skills;

(6) Context knowledge;

(7) Functional knowledge and expertise;

(8) Emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual well being and make up;

(9) Creativity and innovation;

(10) Facilitation, presentation and meeting skills;

(11) Staff selection and development skills;

(12) Knowledge management and organisation learning.

·        Holistic competence and proficiency development;

·        Leadership Simulation in teams;

·        Individual self assessments and peer reviews of leadership skills;

·        Identification of areas/opportunities of significant improvements in performance  in CSIR.  Designing appropriate change initiatives including strategy is to secure appropriate by in, support and resources for effective delivery;

·        Action Planning for further personal development for the remainder of the Leadership Programme.

            Module 3: Action Learning Phase: Work individually and in teams under supervision to implement and execute the performance improvement initiatives identified during the residential workshop.

          The  programme has been designed around experiential learning, that is, learning by doing hands on stuff.  Programme materials includes :

·        Case studies;

·        Selected books and articles;

·        Videos and films;

·        Individual and team skill development simulations;

·        Self and team skill and performance assessments;

·        Action learning assignments.
